Fire Control Symbols are graphical symbols intended for use on the shipboard Fire Plan. The plan provides a legend to assist recognition and understanding of the graphical symbols on the plan. These symbols are now specified in ISO 17631 in support of IMO resolutions. Many ship owners and operators, no doubt with advice from various jurisdictions have decided to apply these Fire Control Symbols as signs at the location of the equipment that appears on the Fire Plan. JALITE has decided to make recommendations that Fire Fighting equipment location and identification should be signed using safety signs designed according to the safety sign design principles and as appear in ISO 7010. For any remaining specialised equipment that needs to be signed and that is not covered by the scope of ISO 7010 the signs may be taken to be "safety related signs" and are identical to the Fire Control Symbols of ISO 17631.
These safety related signs are intended for use by sufficiently trained personnel.
Fire Control Symbols-Fire Plans
The complete set of fire control & life saving symbols published in ISO 17631:2002 designed in order to be used on fire safety plans. Symbols are printed on clear self-adhesive material and can be individually peeled for ease of application.
